Hilo, Kaneohe earn wins on opening day of Little League Minors state tourney

Hilo's Braeden Leite pitches to an Aiea batter in the second inning of the opening game of the Hawaii State Little League Minors (8-10) State Tournament on Friday at the Eddie Tam Complex in Makawao.

Hilo defeated Aiea 19-4 in three innings to advance to a semifinal Sunday.

In the second game of Day 1, Kaneohe edged Waipio 4-3. Maui County champion Central East Maui starts its tournament run today against Kaneohe in a game scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

The tournament runs through Tuesday.
