• FOOTBALL

Tuesday--The Maui Football Officials Association is looking for anyone interested in officiating football games in Maui County. New officials will work Maui Pop Warner games and then move to Maui Interscholastic League junior varsity and varsity games as they gain the necessary experience. Anyone interested is asked to call Joe Apolo at (808) 281-6481 or attend an MFOA meeting which take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays in the Baldwin High School portable classroom across from the Jon Garcia Gym in Wailuku.

Aug. 1--Registration has started for the upcoming Maui Pop Warner football season. Registration is open for all teams -- Wailuku, Lahaina, Kulamalu, Kihei and Kahului. The season is set to start in August. The registration cost is $55 per player for Tiny-Mite and $85 for all other divisions. Registration must be completed online at maui-popwarner.com. • GOLF

July 30--The 2022 Maui Open golf tournament presented by Maui Toyota is set for Aug. 6-7 with an entry deadline of July 30. The event will be held for the first time since 2019, carries a purse of $30,000, will be held at The Dunes at Maui Lani, and is still accepting entries. To sign up, email Scott Reinhart at sreinhart@mauilani.com or call (808) 872-9047. Also, the event is still in need of volunteers for on-course activities. • SOFTBALL

Today--The Hawaii Pearls Maui Softball program is currently holding open registration for the upcoming fall season. The Maui Girls Softball Association is offering a fall season for the following divisions: 8U, 10U and 12U. The registration fee is $30, which will be collected at a later date. For new players, a copy of a birth certificate is required. Those interested are asked to call Lei Nakamura at (808) 344-5084 as soon as possible.
