The Maui Interscholastic advanced 15 girls and seven boys into the semifinals at the Texaco/HHSAA state wrestling championships at the Cannon Activities Center on the Brigham Young University-Hawaii campus in Laie on Friday.
Defending state champion Jahlia Miguel, a Baldwin High School sophomore in the 145-pound weight class, needed double overtime to win her quarterfinal.
Fellow defending state champions from the MIL Catherine Asami (184) and Teani Medeiros-Maielua (132), both from Lahainaluna, joined Miguel in the semifinals.
Top-seeded Naiomi Kulukulualani-Sales of Lahainaluna advanced to the semifinals at 107. She was the state runner-up at the same weight last season.
The MiL advanced two to the semifinals in five girls weight classes.
Deja Fernandez of Baldwin and Kanoelani Kekiwi Jones of King Kekaulike both advanced to the semifinals at 117.
Baldwin's Chaela Gantata and Lahainaluna's Kivah Caballero both advanced to the final four at 122.
Briseis Obregon of King Kekaulike and Siana Boaz-Vasquez of Lahainaluna both made the semifinals at 127.
Lahainaluna's Crystin-Dior Treu and Baldwin's Teata Mataafa-Grove both made the semifinals at 138.
Baldwin's Kaili Torres-Angel made the semifinals at 155.
Shiloh Kamaka of Baldwin made it to the semis at 168.
Casey-Ann Ross of Lahainaluna made the semifinals at 225.
Among MiL boys, Marcus Marinas of Baldwin made the semifinals at 113.
Lanai's Diesel Del Rosario made the semis at 120 with a pair of pins, and Kamehameha Maui's Happy Nitahara made the semifinals at 126.
At 132, King Kekaulike's Kai Iwankiw and defending state champion Mikah Labuanan of Kamehameha Maui made the semifinals. Labuanan advanced with a pin and a technical fall and Iwankiw beat Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Hoakeaka Salter in the first round.
Baldwin's Nai Hasegawa advanced to the semifinals at 160 and Lahainaluna's Keawe Kane-Keahi advanced to the semifinals at 195.
The Lahainaluna girls are currently second in the team standings with 90 points and Baldwin is third with 83. Defending champion Moanalua leads with 117 points.
In the boys team chase, Baldwin has 41 points and Lahainaluna has 30. Kapolei currently leads the boys team chase with 71.5 points.
The finals for boys and girls will be televised on OC16 at 5 p.m. today.
