Despite getting 23 points from sophomore Meilani McBee, the University of Hawaii women's basketball team fell to UC Irvine in overtime for the second time this season, 68-66, on Saturday in California.
The Rainbow Wahine fell to 13-14 overall and 11-7 in the Big West Conference. They trailed by nine in the third quarter, but narrowed the gap through the final 15 minutes of action.
McBee hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to help force overtime at 58-58. Freshman center Imani Perez had career-high 13 points and nine rebounds for UH.
The Anteaters (22-5, 14-2) trailed 66-64 in OT, tied the game up at 66-66, and won the game in the final second when Nevaeh Parkinson scored the final bucket.
UH remains at the No. 4 position of the conference standings with CSUN and UC Santa Barbra traveling to Honolulu this week to finish the regular season.
