The University of Hawaii men's basketball team couldn't keep up with hot-shooting UC Davis, losing 75-63 in Davis, Calif., on Thursday.
The Aggies shot 64 percent from the field in dropping the Rainbow Warriors to 16-7 overall and 7-4 in the Big West Conference, tied for fourth in the league standings with UC Davis (14-9, 7-4).
JoVon McClanahan led Hawaii with 17 points. Kamaka Hepa added 12 points and Noel Coleman scored 10.
The Rainbow Warriors led 28-19 with 7:33 left in the first half before the Aggies went on an 18-3 run to take a 37-31 lead into the break. UH never got closer the rest of the game, falling behind by as many as 16 points in the second half.
Elijah Pepper poured in 29 points and Ty Johnson had 22 to lead the Aggies.
On Thursday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, the UH women's basketball team lost to UC Davis 57-47.
Lily Wahinekapu scored 14 points and Daejah Phillips added 10 for the Rainbow Wahine (8-12, 6-5), who trailed 19-14 after a back-and-forth first quarter and was never able to take back the lead the rest of the game.
Evanne Turner led the Aggies (10-11, 6-5) with 23 points.
UH next plays Cal Poly on Saturday, the men on the road and the women at home.
