Bears finish off regular season slate with 9-3 win over Lunas

Jasmyn Yoshikawa batted 3 for 5 with three RBIs, and the Baldwin High School soft­ball team completed their regular-season schedule with a 9-3 win over Lahainaluna on Saturday in Lahaina.

Briana Maio-Silva hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Bailey Nagasako added a two-run blast in the sixth for the Maui Interscholastic League Division I regular-season champion Bears, who improved to 11-1.

The Lunas fell to 5-6.

Baldwin has a bye week this week before the MIL D-I tournament gets underway Saturday with the 4-5 play-in game at Patsy Mink Field. Semifinals are April 24 and the final on April 25.

n MAUI HIGH 21, KAMEHAMEHA MAUI 5, 6 INNINGS: At Patsy Mink Field, Jer-Zee Ragasa was 4 for 6 with four RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Sabers (9-2).

Breani Kahalehau homered and drove in three runs, and Cadence Yamane and Kaci Amaral also each had three RBIs for Maui High.

Tehani Yamamoto drove in a pair of runs for the Warriors (0-11).

n LANAI 21, HANA 0, 3 INNINGS: At Lanai City, Keala Montgomery was 4 for 4 from the plate, driving in seven runs, and threw a three-inning no-hitter as the Pine Lasses finished the MIL Division II regular season 6-2.

Montgomery struck out three -- throwing 19 of her 26 pitches for strikes -- and didn't walk a batter.

The Dragons fell to 1-7.

Up next is the MIL D-II tournament, which starts Thursday in Hana. The third-seeded Dragons will face No. 2 seed Molokai in Thursday's lone semifinal, while the top-seeded Pine Lasses will take on the winner of that game in the tournament final on Friday. An overall championship playoff, if necessary, will be played Saturday.
