A Close-up Look at Maui County's High School Athletics

• Seabury Hall

• Grade: 12 / GPA: 4.25

AP: Biology, Calculus AB, Literature & Composition, Spanish

• Sports: Cross Country, Track & Field, Swimming

• Future Plans: I have not decided where yet, but I plan on studying Biology with a minor in East Asian

Studies. I plan to continue doing cross country and track & field in college.

• Sports Lessons: What I enjoy most about being an athlete is my team and coach. Throughout the past four years we have come so far with each other. Nothing is better than relieving the day’s stress with a laugh with my coach or a deep conversation with my teammates during a long run.

Being an athlete has taught me that hard work pays off. At first I used to dread hard workouts like mile repeats or 400s, but this year I started to look forward to them as the shared struggle transformed into team bonding. It was extremely fulfilling to see my times drop at races, and to know that my effort during hard practices was paying off.

* Sports Spotlight students are selected by school administrators and athletic officials from Maui County high schools and these profiles are compiled by the advertising department of The Maui News. Alexander & Baldwin makes a $200 donation in honor of each student athlete to their high school’s athletic programs.
