Maui Prep edges Kamehameha Maui 153-156 to clinch MIL championship

The defending state champion Maui Preparatory Academy boys golf team has earned its return trip to the David S. Ishii Foundation/HHSAA state tournament.
Na Pueo clinched that opportunity with a 153-156 win over Kamehameha Maui to wrap up the Maui Interscholastic League team crown on Thursday at The Dunes at Maui Lani.
MPA claimed five of the 15 individual spots that the MIL gets to the state tournament May 11-12 on Kauai. The other spots will be decided by the upcoming MIL individual tournament.
Maui Prep finished the team portion of the season 6-0, while Kamehameha Maui is 4-2.
Dillon Jonke led Maui Prep with a 37, followed by 38s from Chris Salem and Renner Chumley, and a 40 from Landon Long. Kai Shively’s 44 was the dropped score.
Kamehameha Maui’s Anson Cabello, the defending MIL individual champion who has signed to play next season for the University of Hawaii, led all scorers on Thursday with a 34.
Kingzlee Min had a 39, Luke Kahuhu shot 40 and Kaohu Mata-Goldmann fired a 43 for the Warriors. Kamehameha Maui’s dropped score was Thunder Caulford’s 44.
MPA’s Arshayah Marshall (50) and KSM’s Kalaheo Sakamoto (48) were non-scorers Thursday.
