A Close-up Look at Maui County's High School Athletics

• Molokai High School

• Grade: 12 / GPA: 3.5 AP: English (2xs)

• Sports: Soccer, Cross Country, Judo

• Future Plans: I want to study Environmental Science with the Conservation Corps in either Oregon or Washington.

• Sports Lessons: What I enjoy most about being an athlete is the people you meet and later on call family. The people who support you on and off the field, those people are your team. I also enjoy the competitive feeling, being able to challenge other teams with your own. Using all the practice and all the hard work you’ve put into something real. I enjoy the memories that are made with your team, the funny sporadic moments and the anticipating “will we make it?” moments. Being an athlete taught me as an individual responsibility to yourself and your team. It’s taught patience, and how to make use of your time wisely. Waiting for the ball to come to you, resting in between when you can. Being an athlete taught to respect myself and all those around – my teammates or not. I’ve learned something that was really difficult for me and that’s being proud of myself, even for the little things. And I’ve taught myself to say that to my teammates as well because sometimes we all struggle with it.

Alexander & Baldwin makes a $200 donation in honor of each student athlete to their high school’s athletic programs.
