The Baldwin High School softball team advanced to today's fifth-place game in the DataHouse/HHSAA tournament after winning a tiebreaker following a 7-7, five-inning deadlock with Mililani on Thursday when the game was called due to the two-hour time limit.
The tiebreaker procedure is hits minus errors -- Baldwin won that 4-3. The Bears, champions of the Maui Interscholastic League in Division I, had seven hits and three errors, while the Trojans had five hits and two errors.
Thursday's game was at McKinley High School, and the Bears (13-2-1) will be there again today for the fifth-place game against Kapolei at 1 p.m.
Lahela Painter was 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs for the Bears on Thursday, while Briana Maio-Silva smacked a home run, scored three times and knocked in two.
MIL Division II champion Lanai (7-4) saw its season end in a 12-0, five-inning loss to Damien.
