Maui's Ian Gentil catches massive air as he competes in the round of 16 of the Surf City El Salvador Pro on Sunday in Punta Roca, La Libertad, El Salvador. Gentil continued his strong showing at the World Surf League Championship Tour event with a 14.67-13.50 victory over Brazil's Joao Chianca -- No. 2 in the CT standings -- in the round before taking out Olympic gold medalist and 2019 WSL champion Italo Ferreira of Brazil 13.44-13.33 in the quarterfinals. He now takes on another Brazilian star, defending WSL champ Filipe Toledo, in the semifinals. The other semi pits Californian Griffin Colapinto against Australian Liam O'Brien.
