• Sports Lessons: Being an athlete has taught me a million things. I would say the most prominent lesson I learned from being an athlete is handling adversity by staying calm. A quote I came across recently read "calmness is not the absence of storms, but the mastery of them." I learned from being an athlete that no matter how talented you can be, how athletic, strong, or fast you are, there will always be rough encounters, struggles, and setbacks in sports, whether it is physically, mentally, or even both at once. Being an athlete taught me that there is nothing you can do to stop bad days, however, there is always something you can do about hard days. From exhausting football games, to non energetic days of track meet days, being an athlete taught me to dig deeper into handling adversity when times get rough. More so, I believe that these lessons translate to everyday life outside of sports.
