A Close-up Look at Maui County's High School Athletics
• Lahainaluna High School
• Grade: 11 / GPA: 3.8
• Sports: Football, Wrestling, Track & Field
• Future Plans: I’d like to study Kinesiology or Sports Medicine. My goal is to play college football and use football to get an education, and hopefully one day play professional football.
• Sports Lessons: I enjoy being a part of a family, me and my teammates are like a family rather than just teammates. I also enjoy sports because it’s something I’ve always been good at and something I’ve always loved. I love the competition in sports as well.
Being an athlete has taught me to always be humble through a win or a loss. It has taught me accountability, showing up on time and prepared, it has taught me hard work and discipline, it has taught me to overcome adversity and to always believe in yourself, especially when the odds are stacked against you. Overall being an athlete has made me who I am today and taught me many important life lessons.
* Sports Spotlight students are selected by school administrators and athletic officials from Maui County high schools and these profiles are compiled by the advertising department of The Maui News. Alexander & Baldwin makes a $200 donation in honor of each student athlete to their high school’s athletic programs.
