Maui’s Eli Hanneman surfs in the first heat of the round of 32 at the Ballito Pro on Wednesday in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. Hanneman (8.83) and fellow Mauians Imaikalani deVault (8.43) and Jackson Bunch (9.17) — who were also the only Hawaii surfers remaining in the World Surf League Challenger Series event — were all eliminated with last-place finishes in their heats Wednesday. The next stop on the CS — the fourth of six events that will determine 10 spots to next year’s Championship Tour — is the Wallex U.S. Open of Surfing, July 29-Aug. 6 at Huntington Beach, Calif.
