• Future Plans: I plan to attend college next fall. I am not sure where I would like to study, but I am thinking about studying sociology, anthropology, and indigenous studies.
• Sports Lessons: What I enjoy most about being an athlete is the bond that you create with your teammates. I have met some of my closest friends through sports and love that we have been able to grow together as athletes over the years, constantly pushing each other to be better.
Being an athlete has taught me so much but what I find most meaningful is how much I have learned about my capabilities and my culture. As a steersman in the canoe, I am responsible for where the boat goes and how it gets there which has taught me a lot about what I am capable of in different conditions. I also have learned a lot about the sport of paddling itself which is a sport that my ancestors participated in.
