After dropping a pair of matches at Long Beach State last week, the No. 2-ranked University of Hawaii men's volleyball team got back on the winning track Friday with a four-set victory (25-15, 19-25, 27-25, 25-17) over No. 18 Cal State Northridge at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
Alaka'i Todd had 13 kills and Guilherme Voss added 10 kills --while hitting .643 -- and seven blocks for the Rainbow Warriors (17-3, 1-2 Big West Conference). Louis Sakanoko also had 10 kills and Chaz Galloway had eight kills and six blocks -- UH out-blocked the Matadors 12-6.
The third set proved pivotal as UH went on a late 3-1 run to get to set point, and the Rainbow Warriors eventually took the set on an ace by Sakanoko.
The Matadors (9-11, 0-3) were led by Kyle Hobus with 21 kills.
The teams play again tonight.
