Maui High School had just one hit, but still dealt Baldwin its first loss of the season with a 2-1, eight-inning Sabers walk-off win in Maui Interscholastic League Division I baseball action on Thursday night at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.
Logan Kuloloia went the first six innings on the mound for Maui High (4-0), allowing the Bears' run on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Michael Mullaley got one out on the mound before Dawson Nuese went the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing one hit, striking out four and walking nine, to pick up the win.
The winning run scored when a pitch got away from Baldwin catcher Anu Chaves.
Baldwin's Kade Fujioka was a hard-luck loser on the mound, allowing both runs, just one hit with 11 strikeouts and four walks in seven-plus innings. Kadon Antolin pitched one-third of an inning and walked three.
Douglas Mortensen had a double for the Bears (6-1).
In the other MIL D-I game, Kamehameha Maui improved to 3-1 with a 5-1 win over Lahainaluna (0-7).
Noah Pacheco picked up the win on the mound for the Warriors with a complete-game six-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks. Lyrik Kahula went the distance on the mound for the Lunas, also in a six-hitter.
Dane Markulis was 3 for 4 with a run and a triple for the Lunas, while Kahula had a pair of singles.
Kamole Gilliland had two hits, a run and two RBIs, while Halii Dudoit was 2 for 3 for the Warriors.
