Hawaii Women’s Volleyball Releases 2024 Schedule

HONOLULU–University of Hawai’i women’s volleyball head coach Robyn Ah Mow released the team’s 2024 schedule on Thursday. It includes 16 home matches to be played at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center and 12 away matches. UH once again has a power-packed pre-season schedule which features five matches against four NCAA tournament teams–highlighted by a road match at defending NCAA Champions, Texas. This year’s Big West Championship tournament will be hosted at UC Irvine from Nov. 27-30, 2024.

The Rainbow Wahine will open the season with the three-team Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic. UH will open their season on Friday, Aug. 30 against last year’s American Athletic Conference (AAC) champions, SMU who is now a member of the ACC. Rounding out the three-team tourney is perennial power, San Diego of the West Coast Conference on Sunday, Sept. 1.

The ‘Bows will then play a pair of matches against the 2023 West Coast Conference (WCC) champions Pepperdine on Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7. Both the Waves and the Toreros are returning to Hawai’i for the second-straight pre-season in Honolulu.

Hawai’i will then play Texas State in a rare Tuesday night game prior to the start of the OUTRIGGER Invitational which runs from Thursday, Sept. 12 – Saturday, Sept. 14. The Rainbow Wahine will start their final pre-season tournament against Oregon State on Friday, Sept. 13 and then conclude the Invitational with a second match vs. Texas State on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The Rainbow Wahine will embark on its first roadtrip of the season, starting on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev.. UH will then head to the Lone Star State for the third time in the last four seasons. Hawai’i will first play defending NCAA champions Texas in Austin on Friday, Sept. 20 followed by Baylor on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Waco, Texas.

UH will return to Honolulu to begin defense of its four-straight Big West titles. Hawai’i will begin their conference slate at home against UC Irvine on Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 vs. Cal State Fullerton.

The ‘Bows will then travel to Southern California for their first BW roadtrip to take on UC San Diego on Friday, Oct. 4 and Long Beach State on Saturday, Oct. 5.

UH will then battle UC Davis on Friday, Oct. 11 and UC Riverside on Sunday Oct. 13 in Honolulu before going on a tough, three-match road swing beginning on Friday, Oct. 18 at Cal Poly followed by defending regular season Big West champions, UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Oct. 19. UH will remain on the mainland to face Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday, Oct. 22 to conclude the roadtrip.

Hawai’i returns to host three-straight home matches beginning with CSUN on Sunday, Oct. 27. UH will then open the second round with a rematch against UC Santa Barbara on Friday, Nov. 1 and Cal Poly on Saturday, Nov. 2.

The Rainbow Wahine will head to UC Riverside for a rare Thursday night road match on Nov. 7 and conclude their fourth roadtrip at UC Davis on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Hawai’i will then host its final two home matches against Long Beach State on Friday, Nov. 15 and “Senior Night” will be against UC San Diego on Saturday, Nov. 16.

UH will conclude its regular season on the road at Cal State Fullerton on Friday, Nov. 22 and at UC Irvine on Saturday, Nov. 23.

The top six Big West teams will then advance to the 2024 BW Championship tournament at UC Irvine.

The 2024 Rainbow Wahine are led by senior setter Kate Lang, senior libero Tayli Ikenaga, and junior outside hitter Caylen Alexander. Hawai’i welcomes five freshmen into the fold this year–Adrianna Arquette (Setter/Kailua, O’ahu/Kamehameha Schools–Kapālama), Victoria Leyva (Libero-DS/El Paso, Texas/Pebble Hills HS), Malinah Purcell-Telefoni (Opposite/Kapolei, O’ahu/Kapolei HS), Miliana Sylvester (Middle Blocker/Honolulu, O”ahu/University Laboratory School), and Madeline Way (Middle Blocker/Santa Clarita, Calif./Sierra Canyon HS).
