Tyler Loree of Kula wins Sony Open in Hawaii Qualifier

Tyler Loree of Kula shot a 5-under 67 at the Hawaii State Golf Association’s Sony Open in Hawaii Qualifier on Monday at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.

The Sony Open is a golf tournament in which the top amateur golfers from the state compete for a chance to play in the professional Sony Open in Hawaii PGA Tour event.

With the victory, Loree claimed the single qualifying spot by carding six birdies and one bogey with the wind blowing at about 10-20 mph throughout the round.

Loree won by four strokes over Tyler Ogawa of Honolulu and Josh Hayashida of Mililani. Loree is a senior at Seabury Hall and recently signed a letter of intent to play men’s golf at UCLA.
