King Kekaulike, Baldwin, Seabury all play Thursday in boys soccer state tourneys

Lorenzo Gonzalez scored five goals and Joaquin Tavares added two as the King Kekaulike boys soccer team defeated Kapolei 7-3 on Monday in the first round of the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I state tournament.

With the win, King Kekaulike will advance to face Miliani, which is seeded No. 1, at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oahu.

Additionally, the Baldwin boys soccer enters the tournament with the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye. Baldwin is scheduled to take on Campbell at 3 p.m. Thursday, also at WPSC.

The winners of Thursday’s matches will move on to play in Friday’s semifinal round. The boys Division I state tournament is expected to crown a champion on Saturday.

In the Division II state tournament, No. 4-seeded Seabury Hall is set to take on No. 5 Kahuku on Thursday at WPSC. The winner will move on to Friday’s semifinal round with the championship set for Saturday.
