Football roundup: Campbell scores 4 touchdowns in Kamehameha Maui’s win

Kamehameha Maui senior running back Zedekaiah Campbell ran for 174 yards and four touchdowns to help lead the Warriors to a 49-28 win over Baldwin at King Kekaulike High School on Friday.

Kamehameha sophomore quarterback Kekoa Keau-Davis passed for 146 yards in the game including a 14-yard touchdown throw to Bruce Beltran. Overall, the Warriors racked up 367 yards on the ground.

“Our offensive line did a great job running lanes and protecting our quarterback,” Warriors coach Ulima Afoa said. “Overall, our team conditioning kicked in in the second half.”

Afoa said Kamehameha Maui still needs to cut down on penalties, which worked against them all night.

“We need to continue to work to get better,” the coach said.

The win continued Kamehameha Maui’s streak as the Warriors improved to 5-0 in Maui Interscholastic League Division II games.

Playing in MIL Division I, Baldwin’s record fell to 2-3, putting the Bears behind Lahainaluna with a 2-2 record.

The competition Friday night remained close through the first three quarters with Baldwin just a touchdown away from tying the game entering the fourth frame.
