Baldwin girls water polo remains unbeaten in MIL play
The Baldwin girls water polo team remains unbeaten atop the Maui Interscholastic League standings with a 6-0 record through Saturday.
Kamehameha Maui sits in second at 5-2, followed by Lahainaluna (3-4), Kulanihakoi (2-4) and King Kekaulike, which is still seeking its first win.
As of Saturday, Lahainaluna junior Mia Lee leads the league in scoring with 22 goals while Baldwin senior Jade Brown has amassed 20.
Lahainaluna senior Cora Gruber is third in scoring with 18 goals, followed by Kamehameha Maui senior Lilinoe Peterson with 17 and Kulanihakoi sophomore Isabel Gaggero with 14.
Kamehameha Maui senior Mia Matsumoto has eight goals.
Bears senior Kaity Elumba and sophomore Zoe Mochizuki each have seven goals.
Rounding out the scoring leaders are Kamehameha Maui senior Kaheawai Sepulveda, Lahainaluna junior Jersea Borneman, Lahainaluna senior Sonya Elde and King Kekaulike senior June Padgett, each with five goals.
The scoring totals do not include Tuesday’s matches in which Baldwin defeated Kulanihakoi 17-6.
King Kekaulike and Baldwin are scheduled to play each other at 3:30 p.m. Thursday while Kulanihakoi faces Lahainaluna at 4:45 p.m. All games are played at the Kihei Aquatic Center.
The MIL Water Polo Championship tournament is scheduled to begin April 22.
