Sports Lessons: I enjoy the people. I have made my closest friends through cross country and paddling. Being an athlete has taught me to stay humble in my performance but to be proud of where I come from and the island I represent. Life and school can feel overwhelming but if you take things 1 mile, 1 race or 1 match at a time, it all becomes possible. I’ve learned that your inner thoughts shape your reality, so choose to make them positive. Invest in yourself because at the end of the day, you are your greatest commitment. I’ve realized that every sport is different. Each one demands something unique from you, but no matter what success comes from pushing yourself and leaning on your teammates for support. Through athletics, I’ve learned how to work well with others, uplift those around me and in doing so, grow and excel on my own.
