Lilinoe Peterson: Sports Spotlight June 4
Lilinoe Peterson
School: Kamehameha Schools Maui Grade: 12 GPA: 4.233 AP: Physics, Lang, Lit, Biology, Calculus Sports: Water Polo, Swimming, Volleyball Future Plans: I plan to study Civil Engineering. Not 100% sure where, but possibly Santa Clara University. Sports Lessons: I value the sense of community that comes with being an athlete. No matter where I go, I can build meaningful connections through sports. Team sports, especially, have taught me how to rely on others, something I may not have experienced otherwise. Being an athlete has given me more than competition; it has given me a family. Being an athlete has taught me discipline and what it truly means to work hard. To improve in my sport, I must consistently give my best effort and refuse to give up, even when things feel challenging. Sports have shown me that discipline is not just about training hard, but about how I carry myself. I have learned to carry myself with integrity, respect, and responsibility. I have learned that I am not competing only for myself and my own growth, but also as a representation of my family and community. Being an athlete means striving to be someone others can be proud of, both on and off the court.
