WEST SIDE
Just a short rubber slipper’s toss to the ocean, Sea House Restaurant at the Napili Kai Beach Resort will dish up spectacular views and Thanksgiving Day a la carte items from 3 to 9 p.m. Executive Chef Alex Stanislaw will roast carrots in soup with young ginger and creme fraiche; slice traditional ahi sashimi; and toss butter lettuce wedge salad with guava-smoked bacon, sieved egg and tomato in honey gorgonzola vinaigrette.
Gluten-free entrees of Hawaiian salt-rubbed beef prime rib and oven-roasted Hawaiian fish with lemon beurre blanc join fettuccine in fresh tomato sauce; panko-crusted fish and roasted air-dried turkey with garlic smashed potatoes, sage stuffing, oven-roasted winter vegetables, cranberries, sweet potatoes and gravy.
Desserts include pumpkin-swirl cheesecake, housemade pumpkin pie with whipped cream and candied mac nuts; and chocolate lava cake served with Tahitian vanilla ice cream and raspberry coulis.

Cane & Canoe, the signature restaurant at the Montage Kapalua Bay all-residential-style suite hotel, will present an all-you-can-eat buffet from 3 to 8 p.m.
Executive Chef David Viviano’s menu highlights include citrus-brined free-range turkey; Niman Ranch bone-in ham with pineapple chutney; roasted butternut-squash bisque; Kumu Farm greens; Maui-grown tropical fruit; local goat cheese board with grilled breads; and seared mahimahi in fennel beurre blanc.
Listen to live music as you enjoy sweet corn succotash; braised greens; sweet potato casserole; buttermilk whipped potatoes; Hawaiian sweet bread stuffing with fresh herbs; and more.

Maui Prime Fine Foods is the jewel of Emerald Plaza in Lahaina with steamer pots to go for fun clam bakes with all of the fixings. You may also order all-natural free-range turkeys without chemicals or hormones. Turkeys are going fast, so place your orders now.
You may also pick up wines; properly wrapped cheeses; oysters on the half shell; king crab; live lobster; dungeness crab; and other gourmet fare. Big Island abalone is super tasty and can be thrown right on the grill and sliced for pupu. Check out the new American Muscle Grill that is water and crack resistant and UV protected. The chefs will hand-cut Snake River Farms American-style Kobe beef steaks, and Black River Oscietra sturgeon caviar from Uruguay is also on ice for the holidays.

The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa in Kaanapali invites you to seasonal flavors at its Thanksgiving Harvest Buffet from 4 to 8 p.m. at Black Rock Kitchen. Crunch Waipoli mixed greens; roast asparagus and quinoa salad; watercress and bean sprouts; ahi Nicoise salad; international and domestic cheeses; and chilled shrimp; ahi sashimi; oysters on the half shell; and assorted sashimi.
Executive Chef Greg Gaspar and his team will carve oven-roasted turkey and herb-crusted prime rib, and you’ll also find honey-smoked ham, glazed with brown sugar and mango mustard. Other entrees are grilled leg of lamb; blackened mahi with rock shrimp; and roast pork in fruit compote. Desserts are Kula berry mousse parfait and chocolate mousse cake. The pink pyramid Ka’anapali Beach Club will entice the whole family at its ‘Ohana Bar & Grill that is poolside and oceanfront.
Savor the all-you-can-eat buffet from 4 to 8 p.m. that will begin with roasted butternut-squash soup and lobster bisque. Salad bar items include various vinaigrettes. Chilled seafood will tempt with shrimp, lobster, crab claws, ahi and tako poke and ceviche. At the carving station, chefs will slice kiawe-roasted strip loin of beef; herb-roasted turkey with natural gravy; and turducken of chicken, duck and turkey in a roulade. Pile on green bean and mushroom casserole; yams glazed in lilikoi; roasted spaghetti squash with brown sugar butter; and cream mashed potatoes.

The Terrace restaurant situated lower lobby level at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua will celebrate with a buffet feast that includes live music and keiki hula dancers.
The all-you-can-eat gourmet affair will run from 3 to 8 p.m. and will feature a salad bar with roasted beets, goat cheese, green asparagus, spinach, crisp Romaine and other fixings and dressings Other highlights are imported cheeses; raw bar on ice; smoked seafood with capers and creme fraiche; sushi with condiments; roasted butternut squash soup; and smoked duck breast.
Fill your plate with cinnamon-and-guava bone-in ham; porchetta-wrapped Hokkaido scallops; traditional brine turkey; seared island catch; and garlic-crusted prime rib with herb au jus and creamed horseradish.
Desserts run the gamut from Earl Grey tea pudding to cranberry fruit crumble to pear upside-down cake. Cost is $108 per adult and $48 per child 6 to 12.

Leoda’s Kitchen & Pie Shop in Olowalu offers turkey Thursdays throughout the year, first come first served.
The meal consists of Leoda’s signature stuffing (made with their famous bread, of course), mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and turkey breast — all layered under pan gravy. “We don’t have to tell you that it’s all homemade, and it’s delicious!” says Rosie Robbins, general manager. “Round out your turkey dinner with a mini pumpkin pie all for the $19.75 price.”
As for holiday pies, “We are taking orders now through Monday for pickup on the Wednesday before or on Thanksgiving Day at counter,” says Robbins. “These preorders can be picked up from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.”
Pastry Chef Curtis Horka is baking up a storm of traditional apple, pumpkin and pecan pies along with blueberry cheese pie, custard pie and Oreo chocolate cheese pie. Regular favorite flavors include pies such as banana, chocolate, coconut, Olowalu lime and mac-nut pineapple pie, made with fresh Maui pineapples. The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa in Kaanapali will present an all-you-can-eat buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in its Swan Court restaurant. Enjoy lagoon views, live music and drink specials on mimosas and bloody Marys. Highlights are peel-and-eat shrimp; artisan cheeses; hand-sliced brined turkey; sea-salt crusted prime rib; Upcountry baby greens; Brussels sprouts and bacon; and pecan pie. The famous Lahaina Fish Co. that juts out over the water on Front Street in Lahaina will offer special Thanksgiving lunch and dinner plates in addition to its regular menu. The dinner will feature sliced premium slow-roasted turkey; pineapple-cranberry tropical salsa; giblet gravy; kale slaw; Maui onion mashed potatoes; macadamia-nut stuffing; and pumpkin pie. Cost is $30 for adults and $15 for keiki.
Lunch is similar but features a roasted turkey sandwich and it’s minus the kale slaw and dessert for $17. Get three free hours of validated parking at the Outlets of Maui mall. Call 661-3472.
Plantation House perched in the Kapalua hills gets diners in the holiday mood with its two-sided fireplace and sweeping open-air views of the West Maui coastline, Neighbor Islands and boat action.
Chef Jojo Vasquez will offer a la carte plates such as turkey with potatoes and gravy, green beans, glazed yams, vegetable and sage stuffing and cranberries. Or opt for mac-nut crusted Hawaiian fish; Hokkaido scallops; ahi in kaffir lime vin blanc; duck confit l’orange; and braised beef short rib with creamy polenta. While each plate comes with fixings, you may take your feast over the top with ahi sashimi, Hawaiian bloody mary shrimp, Kula spinach salad and pea soup with lime creme. Pineapple Grill in Kapalua will feature family-style holiday dishes in addition to a limited regular menu. Sink your teeth into herb-butter roasted turkey; vegetable sage stuffing; garlic mashed potatoes; butter-glazed green beans with crisp Maui onions; sweet potato pie with marshmallow and mac nut au gratin; orange-cranberry sauce; and lots of gravy. Desserts are pumpkin caramel cheesecake with spiced whipped cream and toasted pecan pie with bittersweet chocolate. Cost is $38 per adult; and $18 for keiki. Call 669-9600.
Last but certainly not least, Ka’anapali Beach Hotel will present its Thanksgiving Day feast in two parts. But both buffets will be cooked by award-winning Chef Tom Muromoto and his culinary staff, and they aim to please.
Early-bird seating is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $46.95 for adults and $24 for children 6 to 12. The dinner buffet from 3 to 7 p.m. features a hula show and Hawaiian music. Cost is $52.95 for adults and $24 for children 6 to 12.
Pegged “Maui’s most Hawaiian hotel,” KBH exudes hospitality and warmth from the valet to the servers.
The buffet presents outdoor rotisserie-roasted turkey with corn, sausage and sage stuffing; kiawe-smoked prime rib; rosemary roast leg of lamb; and passionfruit-glazed Kurobuta ham. The cold seafood display will feature fresh oysters on the half shell, ahi poke and crab legs. Crunch salad bar items from a host of local favorites; and pile your plate with hot entrees and noodles. CENTRAL MAUI
Hosting Thanksgiving at home or going as a guest to someone’s house? Takamiya Market, renowned as the “little giant of Happy Valley,” will open its doors from 7 to 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, but it’s open from 5:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
Its kitchen facility, Dani’s Catering, will also be open for pickup Thanksgiving Day. At either place, you may pick up sliced turkey, Farmer John ham, stuffing, gravy and other accompaniments.
At Takamiya, buy ahi and tako poke by the pound, Korean ribs, teriyaki meats and char siu that can all be thrown on the grill for pupu.
“We’ll offer turkey bentos for one, and you may order sashimi and poke platters ahead for large parties and pick up smaller sushi and poke to go,” says Lance Takamiya. Call 244-3404.
Fuh-geddah-bout traditional turkey at Marco’s Grill & Deli in Kahului, which will entice with breakfast items and Italian lunch and dinner fare such as pizzas, salads and sandwiches.
Fresh salmon is grilled and served over a bed of cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions and a bit of jalapeno peppers with basil dressing. Fresh mahimahi is also grilled and served piccata style with capers, onions, butter, lemon juice and a unique twist with clam juice, tomato and fresh garlic over a bed of linguine. Crab mac ‘n’ cheese or plain for kids is comforting; and you may crunch crisp Greek, Caesar, bleu-cheese wedges and newly added Cobb salads.
Lovin’ Spoonful fudge cake may be cold or heated with ice cream. Peanut butter pie cake entices as do tiramisu, passion-mango cheesecake, Italian lemon cake and spumoni ice cream.

Island Grocery Depot at 90 Amala Place in Kahului and at 58 Kupuohi St. in Lahaina continue to be the places for fresh produce and prepared foods in convenient locations at reasonable prices.

As usual, Cafe O’Lei at the Dunes will be party central in Kahului with its tempting, all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving Day buffet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Savor roast tom turkey with giblet gravy and stuffing; carved roast prime rib with au jus and creamed horseradish; and roasted pork with pan gravy. Dive into sauteed island mahi with ginger butter, papaya salsa and scallions; and jumbo shrimp linguine Alfredo and enjoy candied Molokai sweet potatoes and yams; Brussels sprouts/cauliflower au gratin; mashed Russet potatoes and steamed rice. Kahili Restaurant in Waikapu dishes up views of the central valley, both north and south shores and Haleakala. It will serve its annual Thanksgiving brunch buffet with seatings from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and from noon to 2 p.m. with breakfast items and more; followed by a dinner buffet with seatings from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. with the addition of shrimp and vegetable tempura.
Executive Chef Eddie Munoz will tempt you with seafood on ice, such as ahi poke and shrimp cocktail; fresh Upcountry mixed green salads; green beans with grilled chicken and blue cheese; and cheese tortellini and cherry tomatoes.
Hot entrees are garlic roast beef carved to order with creamy horseradish and au jus; rosemary-scented roast turkey; Cajun-crusted fresh island catch; grilled pork medallions; Molokai sweet mashed potatoes; whipped garlic Yukon Gold potatoes; steamed white rice; and sauteed vegetables with Brussels sprouts. Kahili’s sister Waikapu restaurant, the fabulous King Kamehameha Golf Club, will present a stellar brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring Willie K and friends on stage.
Crunch Upcountry greens with kale and candied pecans in housemade Moscato vinaigrette; savor vine ripe cherry tomatoes with mozzarella; fresh fruits; and dinner rolls. Entrees are herb-and-citrus butter roasted turkey; apple-sage stuffing; Jack Daniel’s honey-glazed ham; salmon with lemon-caper beurre blanc; green bean casserole; loaded mashed potatoes; and breakfast fare from omelets to fried rice. Home Maid Bakery remains a local favorite decade after decade for ordering pumpkin, custard, apple and French apple pies in the main Wailuku facility. Hot malasadas are always popular on the holidays and come in cream-filled (can be with pumpkin) and plain, sprinkled with sugar. Pumpkin mochi is a seasonal treat. Rolls and breads are all baked in house, too. Wailuku Thanksgiving hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. It’s best to order ahead. Call 244-7015.
NORTH SHORE
Wake up to Thanksgiving Day breakfast at Charley’s Restaurant & Saloon in Paia from 7 a.m. to noon; or enjoy a special turkey feast served from 2 to 8 p.m.
“Our regular lunch menu from noon to 5 p.m. and dinner menu from 5 to 8 p.m. will be offered as well,” explains Managing Partner Jonathan Herman.
“We are slow-roasting kalua turkeys overnight in an imu (traditional Hawaiian oven) and serving them with gravy along with whipped Okinawan sweet potato, Grand Marnier cranberry sauce and green-bean casserole with Hamakua mushroom sauce.”
But it doesn’t stop there. Savor corn-bread stuffing with Portuguese sausage and Granny Smith apples, and choice of housemade pumpkin pie or apple pies.

As of press time, Mama’s Fish House in Kuau Cove still has seats open for daytime feasts until 3 p.m. and it’s pretty booked for dinner on Thanksgiving Day. Chef Perry Bateman also doesn’t set the menu until the fishermen come in with their catch.
The menu rotates daily and projected Thanksgiving menu additions are wild-caught fish baked in pumpkin-seed crust, stuffed with king crab and served with persimmon chutney, sweet potato mash and charred Anuhea asparagus; and grilled fish with crispy kama, or collar, with baked ulu, fresh made-in-house poi, just caught ahi poke, squid luau and wild boar laulau.
Whole fish is roasted in ti leaves with island-grown vegetables; soups are roasted butternut squash and Tristan lobster; Waipoli greens come with hearts of palm, Hashimoto persimmon, spiced pecans, and goat cheese with Tahitian vanilla vinaigrette; and diners will also find kalua turkey with pan drippings and cranberry-pineapple chutney; and desserts of housemade Kula pumpkin caramel ice cream; and tangy cranberry li hing mui sorbet. SOUTH SHORE
Join the 5 Palms ohana oceanfront at the Mana Kai Resort in Kihei for views from its perch overlooking Keawakapu Beach, Neighbor Islands and the Pacific Ocean. Dine on a three-course turkey dinner or from the limited, gourmet a la carte menu from 3 to 9 p.m.
Begin with roasted butternut squash soup with spiced creme fraiche; or hand-picked baby greens with goat cheese, roasted beets and pomegranates tossed in white balsamic vinaigrette. Then savor the entree plate piled high with roasted turkey, sausage-apple stuffing, glazed yams, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce and green beans Amandine. Dessert is called pumpkin and spice.

The award-winning Seascape Ma’alaea Restaurant will serve Thanksgiving lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a la carte appetizers, entrees and desserts to tempt you from its prime spot overlooking Maalaea Harbor at Maui Ocean Center. Diners are not required to pay for aquarium admission to eat there.
Sink teeth into oven-roasted, herb-basted turkey with cranberry sauce and Portuguese-sausage stuffing along with garlic mashed potatoes and autumn harvest vegetables; or fresh catch with starch and vegetables. Both entrees are $18 and $17 per plate, respectively.
You may add on lobster and pumpkin bisque with creme fraiche and chives for $6; and red beet and butternut squash salad with greens, avocado, orange slices, goat cheese and pumpkin seeds for $11. Pumpkin pie and layered chocolate brownies are $4 and $5. For Seascape reservations, call 270-7068.
As usual, DUO at Four Seasons Resort Maui will present an elaborate Thanksgiving Day buffet from 1:30 to 8 p.m. Begin with raw bar favorites such as freshly shucked oysters on the half shell; crab claws and legs; chilled Molokai shrimp; Big Island lobster salad; ahi tuna tataki with foie gras mousse; and assorted sushi. The salad station will be a display of all manner of greens and island produce; and there will be international and local cheeses; olives; marinated vegetables; and charcuterie sliced by the culinary team that will add to the feast.
Chefs will also carve oven-roasted tom turkey; togarashi-dusted ahi; and slow-roasted prime rib with Yorkshire pudding and more. Sample the coffee-braised short ribs; roasted Brussels sprouts; vanilla-glazed carrots; and desserts of pears Belle Helene; pecan and maple syrup tartlet; and salted caramel and coconut profiterole. Ruth’s Chris Steak House boasts prime locations in both The Shops at Wailea and in the Outlets of Maui mall in Lahaina with Thanksgiving Day hours from 4 to 10 p.m.
Its three-course holiday feast lets you opt for corn-and-crab chowder or steak house salad, oven-roasted turkey with giblet gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, island corn, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn bread stuffing with Andouille sausage, and fresh cranberry sauce. Indulge in pumpkin or New Orleans-style pecan pie.

The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui resort in Wailea will double the fun with its annual three-course plantation feast in Ko and a Thanksgiving Pa’ina outdoors as well as oceanfront.
The pa’ina will feature spectacular views of the Neighbor Islands, fresh ocean breezes, live Polynesian music and dance and a fun holiday menu by Executive Chef Tylun Pang — from turkeys cooked underground in an imu to extensive seafoods, appetizers, soups, salads, chef specialties and desserts at the buffet, all paired with cocktails, wine beer and holiday refreshments. Grand Wailea will offer three big dining options on Thanksgiving Day, including prix-fixe meals in its Bistro Molokini and Humuhumunukunukuapua’a with regular menus also available.
The grandest hotel in all of Maui will also present an all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving Day brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. that includes sparkling wine for adults in its opulent and open-air Grand Dining Room with views galore.
Chefs will carve roast prime rib, guava-glazed spiral ham and pomegranate-brined organic roast turkey. Other hot temptations are the risotto station; braised short ribs; crispy duck confit; and rosemary-mustard glazed arctic char. Raw bar will be piled high with snow crab claws; oysters; shrimp; hamachi and ahi sashimi; and assorted sushi rolls.
