As usual, restaurant seats on Easter Sunday are selling out faster than a hare hops. Follow his fast pace and hurry to make reservations. Requests or needs should be addressed at this time, rather than at busy hostess stands in the holiday rush.

WEST MAUI

Gather the ohana for the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel’s legendary annual Easter Sunday champagne brunch from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The feast will be preceded by an Easter worship service at 7 a.m., followed by a petting farm, Easter Bunny appearances, face painting, an egg hunt, arts and crafts and Hawaiian entertainment.

A keiki buffet will delight with pizza, hot dogs, cookies, Jell-O and ice cream with toppings.

Celebrate with Executive Chef Tom Muromoto’s award-winning entrees and other local favorites. Dive into the cold seafood bar, watch chefs carve roasted pork loin, leg of lamb and beef strip loin. Pile plates with specialty salads and hot-from-the-kitchen white-bean-ham-hock soup, fresh salmon patties with dill aioli, and stuffed island fish with lemon-caper sauce.

The Montage Kapalua Bay’s signature Cane & Canoe restaurant will serve an Easter brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with fresh starters, a seafood raw bar, breakfast items and carving, keiki and dessert stations.

Elevate your Easter Sunday with roast leg of lamb, chilled lobster tails, Jonah crab claws, imported and local cheeses, cold-smoked salmon, glazed Berkshire ham, tropical fresh fruits, eggs Benedict, build-your-own omelets and big-eye ahi sashimi all expertly prepared by Cane & Canoe Chef Robert Barrera and his culinary team. The desserts include hot malasadas, Kula strawberry tartlets, miniature chocolate mousse cakes and cookies.

The keiki will be excited to guess the amount of jelly beans in a big jar to win a special gift basket at the pink pyramid Diamond Resort Ka’anapali Beach Club in West Maui.

“We’ll have a wide variety of great choices and plenty of candy and special treats for the kids,” Food & Beverage Director Craig Erickson says.

There will be an all-you-can-eat Easter brunch from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with starters such as soba-noodle salad, local Kula greens, penne primavera, smoked marlin, shrimp cocktail and a poke station with fresh Hawaii fish.

From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Easter Sunday, the Sea House restaurant at Napili Kai Beach Resort will be dishing up its ocean views for a casual a la carte breakfast that is hard to beat. Sunday brunch will be a sea of happy faces, savoring classic eggs Benedict, spring-vegetable omelets and the housemade best corned-beef hash anywhere, prepared by Executive Chef Alex Stanislaw and staff.

“In the evening, we’ll just serve our normal terrific best-view-on-Maui dinner with Maui’s freshest fish and our epic oceanside sunset dining,” says the chef. To book,, call 669-1500.

In tiny Olowalu, Leoda’s Kitchen & Pie Shop sells some of the best baked breads, pies and adorable sugar cookies on island. Normal business hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“We will be offering pineapple-glazed baked ham with sweet-potato mash and fresh green beans Almondine from 4 to 8 p.m.,” says Leoda’s General Manager Rosie Robbins. “We will be featuring some special baked goods, too, just for Easter Day.”

Swan Court at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa will present a sumptuous Easter Sunday brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in its prime spot overlooking waterfalls, lagoons and swans.

Dine on an all-you-can-eat buffet of hand-carved prime rib, leg of lamb with rosemary crust, house-smoked salmon, peel-and-eat shrimp with kimchi cocktail sauce, hearts-of-palm salad and domestic cheese board items.

The buffet continues with Surfing Goat Dairy cheese egg-white frittata with zucchini and tomatoes, blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup and freshly baked pastries and desserts. Cost is $69 for adults and $35 for kids 5 to 12. Call the Hyatt concierge at 667-4727.

Mauka Makai award-winning restaurant at The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas will present an exceptional oceanview Easter brunch buffet from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The creatively crafted menu will include breakfast classics alongside specialty dishes. Delight in garden salads, fresh local fruit, assorted cheeses, poke station and chef’s carving board featuring glazed-country ham, peppercorn prime rib and grilled local catch. Topping off the 26th Celebration of the Arts Hawaiian cultural weekend, Anuenue Room at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua will be puttin’ on a lavish, all-you-can-eat Easter brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Indulge in seafood from the raw bar, savor sushi from action stations and keiki may indulge in Easter egg and cookie decorating. Maui Prime Fine Foods in the Emerald Plaza in Lahaina is open for regular business hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

It’s the one-stop gourmet shop for Snake River Farms Kurobuta hams, custom-cut American-style Kobe steaks, domestic lamb racks and boneless leg of lamb. Seafood and oysters are plentiful. You may place orders now for Maui Steamer Pots in various sizes to have an Easter clam bake and buy Black River Oscietra caviar.

CENTRAL MAUI

Like a little music with your Easter brunch? Then head to the King Kamehameha Golf Club in Waikapu and listen to the Willie K lineup of Arlie Asiu, Kaleo Phillips, Pi’ilani Arias and Grammy Award Winner, Kalani Pe’a from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday

Bring your appetites to enjoy mixed Kula greens salad, fresh fruit, potato-mac salad, lomilomi salmon, fresh ahi poke, fresh-baked croissants, bagels and lox with capers and red onion, hot-cross buns, omelets cooked at station, kalua-pork hash, smoked bacon, Portuguese sausage, Hawaiian sweet-bread French toast, grilled chicken teriyaki, pineapple honey-glazed ham, seared salmon with lemon-mint beurre blanc, green-bean Almondine, seafood baked mac ‘n’ cheese, butternut-squash soup, Molokai sweet potato with coconut-cream glaze, steamed white rice and desserts of carrot cake, chocolate cake, pies and brunch beverages. Also part of the same Waikapu golf complex is the Kahili Restaurant, which will feature an all-you-can-eat buffet with seatings from 9 a.m. to noon. Executive Chef Eddie Munoz will dazzle with seafood on ice featuring poached tiger shrimp and ahi poke, oven-roasted prime rib and cooked-to-order omelets.

The salad bar will be plentiful with Romaine lettuces with creamy Caesar dressing and an array of grilled vegetables, Caprese salad and dinner rolls with bread and butter. Hot entrees are roasted leg of lamb with rosemary-mint jus, mac-nut chicken breast in beurre noisette, five-peppercorn crusted salmon, traditional breakfast dishes and a host of desserts. Looking for hot cross buns? How about pies, cakes, hot malasadas and fabulously decorated Easter cookies and cupcakes? Then head to Home Maid Bakery on Lower Main Street in Wailuku. Easter hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. For orders, call 244-7015.

SOUTH MAUI

Both Maui Ruth’s Chris Steak House locations will be sizzling with Easter Sunday dinner specials, starting at 5 p.m. upstairs in The Shops at Wailea as well as at its sister steak house in the Outlets of Maui mall in Lahaina. Each table will receive a special gift from the staff of Ruth’s Chris.

Select from indulgent favorite entrees like the 40-ounce USDA tomahawk ribeye, filet mignon, New York strip, fresh island fish and Ruth’s famous barbecued shrimp. Juicy prime steaks and chops are all seared to perfect doneness in 1,800-degree ovens then finished with pats of butter.

Swirl a martini, sip big red wines, delight in sides such as creamed spinach, chopped salad and top it all with bread pudding with creme Anglaise and whiskey sauce. For reservations, call 874-8880 or 661-8815.

In Wailea, Gannon’s, A Pacific View Restaurant will serve views of Neighbor Islands with its Easter brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Chefs will hand carve sea-salt-crusted roast beef, cedar-plank salmon and honey-baked ham in orange-clove glaze. Salads will range from asparagus tossed with cherry tomatoes, wild arugula and pistachio pesto to raspberries with Maytag blue cheese and candied pecans.

Hot highlights are cheese fondue and scrambled eggs, breakfast charcuteries and short-rib hash. Breads and desserts will take it over the top. Cost of $50 per person includes coffee, tea or soda. For reservations, call 875-8080.

The opulent Grand Dining Room, overlooking the Dolphin Pools and the ocean at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria resort, will set the festive stage for its annual Easter brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The seafood table will glisten with oysters, snow crab, Gulf shrimp, California roll and smoked trout, sturgeon and salmon. Hot entrees are roasted pork belly, grilled Hawaiian fish, dim sum, miso Kula corn succotash, and roasted Brussels sprouts, foie-gras brulee and spring-pea and ham-hock soup. Dig into deviled eggs, sweet and savory tarts, roasted Upcountry heirloom carrots and artisan rolls and breads.

From the carvery will come honey-glazed leg of lamb with fresh mint jus, slow-roasted prime rib and guava- and lavender-honey glazed suckling pig. Desserts are Kula strawberry panna cotta, Maui dark chocolate tart and carrot cake cupcakes.

The expansive and open-air 5 Palms oceanfront at Mana Kai Resort in Kihei will present a special brunch buffet with early-bird seatings from 8 to 9 a.m. for $49.95 for adults and regular seating from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. is $54.95 per adult. At both seatings, it’s $29.95 for kids 12 and younger.

“Join us for another fabulous Easter Brunch in our beautiful oceanfront setting on Keawekapu Beach,” says 5 Palms Director of Operations Kennan Randolph.

Delight in the lavish seafood and sushi display with green-lip mussels, shrimp, smoked salmon and assorted sushi and sashimi. Prime rib and guava-glazed ham will be carved to order. Opt for eggs Benedict or build-your-own omelets. Select from the chef’s farmhouse cheeseboard. Savor fresh catch with oven-dried tomatoes and fried capers and roasted Cornish game hen with lemon-thyme jus and an array of delectable desserts. For reservations, call 5 Palms at 879-2607.

While the small and intimate Cafe del Vino in the Maalaea Harbor Shops isn’t open for Sunday service, it does serve fine Mediterranean meals and those working on the holiday may want to celebrate on another day of the week there with tapas, pasta or a seafood entree such as Kona lobster.

Extend your Easter weekend with Cabaret Night on Monday that includes a four-course dinner and show. Hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays. For reservations, call Cafe del Vino at 868-0732.

Seascape Ma’alaea Restaurant at Maui Ocean Center will dish up harbor views and sustainable seafood lunches from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission to the aquarium is not required to dine. Use the restaurant entry located on the shops side.

“We will not offer an Easter brunch this year,” says Manager James Morrison. “That day we will serve our regular menu and a la carte specials.” For more details, call 270-7068.
