The National Weather Service announced a high surf advisory in effect for all north-facing shores on Maui and Molokai starting Monday.
Residents can expect the arrival of a moderate size, medium to long period north swell starting Sunday night and into Monday morning.
The well may produce advisory level surf along north-facing shores from Monday afternoon through Tuesday, officials report.
The swell and resulting surf will peak Monday night, and then slowly decline through the middle of the week.
Surf may range from 14 to 18 feet, with moderate to strong breaking waves and currents making swimming dangerous.
