HONOLULU - The U.S. Department of Labor has slapped a Honolulu warehouse that stores refrigerated food with more than 60 health and safety violations.The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Monday that the agency claimed violations included failure to label exit routes, inadequate electrical equipment and mismanagement of hazardous chemicals.According to officials, the warehouse is occupied by Unicold Corp. and nine other tenants.Inspectors issued 63 violations in all and have proposed at least $250,000 in fines.Other citations involve missing stair railings, unguarded floor openings and ...

Investors plan Coco Palms restorationWAILUA - Oahu-based investors are preparing to revive a Hawaii resort made famous by Elvis Presley.The investors said the Coco Palms Resort property, which has sat in ruins since Hurricane Iniki destroyed the hotel in 1992, is in escrow. Matson reports strong earningsHONOLULU - The state's largest ocean transportation company reported strong second-quarter profits.Matson Inc. reported that robust Hawaii shipments helped to more than double earnings.Matson President and CEO Matt Cox, in a conference call with reporters, said Hawaii continues to see high levels of visitor arrivals that drive down unemployment.
