HONOLULU - The Hawaii Tourism Authority is working to have Japan Airlines fly 10 flights from Tokyo's Narita airport to Kailua-Kona this summer in hopes they sell well and lead the carrier to restore regularly scheduled service to the Big Island.HTA Brand Management Vice President David Uchiyama said Wednesday that the grounding of Boeing 787 aircraft is creating uncertainty for the plan. HONOLULU - The Hawaii state House and the Senate have approved separate proposals to raise the state minimum wage.The initiative comes just weeks after President Barack Obama announced a plan to raise the national minimum wage to $9 an hour.The Senate bill would gradually increase minimum wage to $9.25 in two years and fix the wage to the consumer price index starting in 2016.The House proposal is less ambitious, raising the wage to $9 by 2017.
