The Maui News Gov. David Ige signed a bill into law on Wednesday that will increase the minimum wage to $18 by 2028. House Bill 2510, now Act 114, raises the minimum wage for the first time since 2018, from $10.10 per hour to $12 per hour starting Oct. 1. The minimum wage will then go up to $14 per hour starting in 2024, $16 per hour starting in 2026 and $18 per hour starting in 2028. “More than 190,000 workers in Hawaii will benefit from these wage increases. This will help working families pay for housing, food, healthcare and other necessities,” Ige said in a news release. ...
