Maui County Department of Environmental Management Director Kyle Ginoza has been named to Pacific Business News' "Forty Under 40 Class of 2013."The distinction "honors a select group of accomplished young Hawaii businessmen and businesswomen," according to an announcement from the Mayor's Office.Ginoza, 39, was recognized at an event at the Hawaii Convention Center on Oahu on Thursday.Ginoza was formerly a project engineer in the county Wastewater Division. Feds consider subsidizing Waimea flights

HILO (AP) - Three airlines are seeking a federal contract to operate subsidized flight service to the Big Island's Waimea airport.Pacific Wings, Mokulele Airlines and Makani Kai are competing for the contract, the Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported.The flights would go to either Honolulu or Kahului. The U.S. Department of Transportation will select the destination. Labor Department funds dislocated worker training

HONOLULU (AP) - The U.S. Department of Labor says Hawaii is in line for nearly $1.8 million in federal grant money to train dislocated workers.The department says the money for Hawaii is part of $58 million in funding to 30 states for expanded training for dislocated workers to acquire industry-recognized credentials in new careers.The grants will pay for on-the-job training, customized training, apprenticeships and other means to train workers.States could apply for the money in May.The department says states were asked to focus on efforts to train workers unemployed for at least 27 ...

Army says Hawaii and Alaska to gain 700 positions

FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii (AP) - U.S. Army Pacific says units in Hawaii and Alaska will gain 700 positions under restructuring announced by Army Chief of Staff Gen.
