Lahaina Shingon Mission O-bon Festival, a colorful Japanese cultural event, starts with a service at 6:30 p.m. and dancing at 7:30 p.m. O-bon is an annual summer festival held at Buddhist temples in rememberance of loved ones who have passed away. ZENSHIN DAIKO’S 15TH ANNUAL TAIKO FESTIVAL
Zenshin Daiko presents its 15th annual Taiko Festival at 7 p.m. in the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater. Hanayu, a sister trio from Japan’s country side, will be featured. MEMORIAL CONCERT TO HONOR JOSE L. ROMERO
The 16th annual Jose L. Romero Memorial Concert will be held at 2 p.m. in the Maui Academy of Performing Arts’ SteppingStone Playhouse at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center. There is a recommended donation of $7 for adults and $5 for students at the door. A dessert reception following the concert is included. Proceeds from the concert will go toward the Jose L. Romero Music Scholarship Fund.
