TWO-DAY OBON FESTIVAL AT KAHULUI MISSION
The summer obon season continues at Kahului Hongwanji Mission, with Buddhist service at 7 p.m. and dancing at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will be a wide range of food, games and a new craft room with hapi coats, baked goods and more. Obon is an annual summer festival held at Buddhist temples in remembrance of loved ones who have passed away. The mission is located at 291 S. Puunene Ave. in Kahului. WATCH ‘ANNIE JR.’ PLAY THIS WEEKEND ONLY
Lahaina’s Theatre Theatre Maui will unveil its summer camp musical production, “Annie Jr.,” at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Kaanapali. Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday, at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. NIGHT AT THE REEF AT MAUI OCEAN CENTER
Enjoy an opportunity to witness live rice coral spawning from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Maui Ocean Center in Maalaea. Guests will interact with MOC’s divers, aquarists, marine naturalists and others. Enjoy music by Kalani Smythe and complimentary refreshments at the Reef Cafe. Doors open at 7 p.m. Light entrees and desserts will be available for purchase along with a no-host bar. The Lahaina Cannery presents its 17th annual Keiki Hula Festival from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Halau from across the islands will take the stage. There will be Hawaiian artisans, crafters demonstrating lei making, weaving and more.
