TWO-DAY OBON FESTIVAL AT MAKAWAO MISSION

The summer obon season continues at Makawao Hongwanji Mission, with a service at 7 p.m. and dancing at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Obon is an annual summer festival held at Buddhist temples in remembrance of loved ones who have passed away. The mission is located at 1074 Makawao Ave. in Makawao. FRIDAY NIGHT IS ART NIGHT IN LAHAINA

Stroll through dozens of art galleries in Lahaina town from 6 to 9 p.m. for special gallery shows and refreshments all free and open to the public with featured artists in action. Pick up a walking map of participants from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lahaina Visitor Center located at the Old Lahaina Courthouse.

The Hana Dialysis Home sixth annual kokua fundraiser will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the front lawn of the center. There will be live music featuring Ata Pata Band, Leokani, the Dizon ohana and others.
