GUITARISTS FEATURED AT FREE CONCERTS

Enjoy a free concert by guitarists Ian O’Sullivan, Yale School of Music graduate Christopher Mallett and University of Hawaii at Manoa student Aaron Cardenas at 3 p.m. Friday at the ‘Ike Le’a auditorium on the University of Hawaii Maui College campus. Sunday: Advance class participants Aaron Cardenas, Liz Faure, John Olson and Mallett will perform at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Keokea. Tuesday: Class participants will perform music composed and conducted by Benjamin Verdery, Andrew York and O’Sullivan at 7 p.m. at Lahaina Jodo Mission as well as at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Keawala’i Congregational Church in Makena. TWO-DAY OBON FESTIVAL HELD AT PAIA MISSION

The summer obon season continues at Mantokuji Soto Zen Mission, with a Buddhist service at 6 p.m., food booths open at 6:30 p.m. and dancing at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Obon is an annual summer festival held at Buddhist temples in remembrance of loved ones who have passed away. The mission is located at 253 Hana Highway in Paia. Call 579-8051 for more information.

The Moonlight Mele Benefit Concert series continues from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bailey House Museum.
