Join Maui youth trio Meheu at Lahaina Restoration’s free monthly Hawaiian Music Series concert from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the Baldwin Home Museum lawn. The group consists of Grant Kono, Maleko Lorenzo and Greg Juan, performing traditional Hawaiian falsetto singing and three-part harmonies, with ukulele, guitar and bass. OBON FESTIVAL AT SHOFUKUJI MISSION
The summer obon season concludes at Kula Shofukuji Mission, with a service at 6:30 p.m. and dancing at 7:30 p.m. Obon is an annual summer festival held at Buddhist temples in remembrance of loved ones who have passed away. The Maui Historical Society will hold its annual membership meeting at 4 p.m. at the Bailey House Museum in Wailuku. A book release event featuring author Wayne Moniz will follow at 5:30 p.m. and will weave readings from Moniz’s “Pukoko: A Hawaiian in the American Civil War” with music and hula. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
