REMEMBERANCE OF ATOMIC BOMBING

Join Maui’s annual Hiroshima and Nagasaki Rememberance on the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing at 7 p.m. in the University of Hawaii Maui College Pilina Building multi-purpose room. David Krieger, founder and president of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, will be the keynote speaker. There will be taiko and koto musicians, song and dance performances and refreshments. Come early at 6:30 to enjoy koto music and learn how to make origami peace cranes.

ENJOY SOUNDS OF WILLIE K AND BAND

Willie K and the Warehouse Blues Band will perform at the King Kamehameha Golf Club’s Waikapu Ballroom. Catch them every Thursday through November. TWO-DAY OBON FESTIVAL AT LAHAINA MISSION

The summer obon season continues at Lahaina Hongwanji Mission, with a service at 6 p.m. and dancing at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Obon is an annual summer festival held at Buddhist temples in remembrance of loved ones who have passed away. The mission is located at 551 Wainee St., Lahaina. Call 661-0640 for more information.

JOIN THE WAILUKU FIRST FRIDAY TOWN PARTY

“The Uptown Getdown 7” is this month’s theme for Wailuku’s First Friday town party from 6 to 9 p.m. Request Music will be celebrating 25 years and will feature a breakdancing competition at 6 p.m. Market Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6 to 9 p.m. Free parking is available at Maui Medical Group. FRIDAY NIGHT IS ART NIGHT IN LAHAINA

Stroll through dozens of art galleries in Lahaina town from 6 to 9 p.m. for special gallery shows and refreshments all free and open to the public with featured artists in action. Pick up a walking map of participants from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lahaina Visitor Center located at the Old Lahaina Courthouse.

CELEBRATE FAMILY DAY AT THE HUI UPCOUNTRY

Bring the family to Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center in Makawao from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Family Day 2015. The celebration marks the opening of the Hui’s youth exhibition with artwork created by 250 Maui youth. There will be a scavenger hunt for the first 50 children, live glassblowing demonstration, food trucks, hands-on activities and more. Admission is free. For more information, call 572-6560.

THE GREEN CELEBRATES WITH KONA BREWING CO.

Kona Brewing Co. will be celebrating its 21st year with a concert featuring The Green at 6 p.m. at the Maui Tropical Plantation’s Field of Dreams in Waikapu. Piilani Arias with Danni Girl and Gomega will be opening. Gates to open at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $21. The concert is open to adults ages 21 and older. FREE SCREENING FOR KEIKI IN KAHULUI

Imua Family Services will provide a free drop-in screening fair at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event focuses on children up to age 6. If parents are unsure of developmental milestones their children should be reaching, this is the perfect opportunity to ask questions.
