EXHIBIT HONORS HAWAII NATIONAL PARKS’ 100TH
Celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the National Parks of Hawai’i by visiting the Hawai’i National Parks 2016 Centennial Juried Exhibition at the Schaefer International Gallery at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. Artists from throughout Hawaii and the Mainland are featured in the show that continues through Nov. 6. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, as well as prior to and during intermissions at Castle Theater shows. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.mauiarts.org.
WILLIE K AND HIS BAND IN WAIKAPU GOLF CLUB

TREE-PLANTING EVENT TO HONOR SEN. INOUYE
The county will host a tree-planting ceremony in honor of the late Sen. Daniel K. Inouye at 9 a.m. at the Central Maui Regional Sports Complex in Kahului. The ceremony will include government officials, active members of the military and veterans and seniors groups. A kamani tree will be planted to symbolize Inouye’s commitment to the people of Maui County.
ALOHA FRIDAY AND FIRST SUNDAY AT HULA GRILL
Enjoy island-style food specials along with free ukulele lessons led by Derick Sebastian from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hula Grill Ka’anapali. There will be three sets of live music to enjoy. CULTURAL SOCIETY TO HOST KITE FESTIVAL
Japanese Cultural Society of Maui will hold a Kite Festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Keopuolani Park in Kahului. At 10 a.m., for a $5 donation, participants can receive a plastic kite kit; bring colored markers. Kite demonstrations by expert Robert Loera of Maui Toy Works will follow at 10:45 a.m., along with a kite decoration contest for kites brought from home or made at the event. The event is free. KEOKEA HO’OLAULE’A TO FEATURE FOOD AND FUN
The third annual Keokea Ho’olaule’a will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Keokea Marketplace, at Milepost 17 on Kula Highway, near Grandma’s Coffee House. Homestead band Da Kualoa Kanikapila Gang, led by retired fire Capt. Alika Akana, will perform, and there will be Upcountry produce, plants, food and crafts for sale. There will also be a silent auction, community service booths and a voter registration. Admission is $1 per person, or $5 per family, with proceeds supporting the Keokea Homestead Farm Lots Association.
ULUWEHI GUERRERO, OTHERS AT THE MACC
Kumu hula and multi-Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner Uluwehi Guerrero will perform at “Na Mele O Hawaii – The Golden Years” at 7:30 p.m. in Castle Theater at the MACC. Special guests will include Emma Veary, Marlene Sai, and Keola and Moanalani Beamer in this celebration of the golden years of Hawaiian music and hula, 1900 to 1975.
