Saturday, Chef Lee Anderson of Sugar Beach Events in Kihei will present a gourmet picnic dinner and a movie under the stars featuring the 1963 classic film, “Charade,” starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.
A portion of the proceeds from this special event benefit Imua Family Services. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the party runs until 9 p.m. Cost is $50 per adult.
“I wanted to be able to do something to give back to this island that has given me so much,” says Chef Anderson. “Who doesn’t love a great classic movie? I thought this was a perfect way for my neighbors and kamaaina to be able to come and experience Sugar Beach Events.”
Come early to claim your spot, enjoy the beachfront, and take pictures of the sunset.
You may bring your own beach chair or blanket or the staff will offer blankets for use. The outdoor screen is provided by Home Theatre Masters. No children under 21 please.
In the first event of the Moonlit Movies on Sugar Beach series, classic film buffs may first enjoy the upscale indoor/outdoor amenities of the Sugar Beach facility, followed by a three-course picnic dinner, cotton candy, and fresh popped popcorn. The first course is Caesar salad.
Then you may choose from pasta primavera and portabella mushrooms in truffle butter; herbed chicken breast with rice pilaf and roasted fresh vregetables; or Asian-braised short ribs with rice pilaf. Desserts are two, mini-French macarons. Sip cocktails by the sea from the cash bar.
Relax on the expansive oceanfront lawn while enjoying the blast from the past. Besides Hepburn and Grant, “Charade” also stars Walter Matthau, James Coburn, George Kennedy and Dominque Minot. It spans three genres from suspense thriller to romance to comedy, all filmed on location in Paris.
