Featuring more than 2,100 rooms, South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa overlooks the Las Vegas Strip and the nearby mountainscape.

Upcoming events

Shows and exhibits running through next weekend include The South Point Western Gift Show; Montana Silver Smiths Go-Round Buckle Awards; the National Finals Rodeo Live Broadcasts in the Grandview Lounge; RAM?Rodeo Tailgate Viewing Party in the Grand Ballroom; Art of the American Cowboy Fine Art Show and Sale; and World Series of Team Roping.

At the World Series event, more than 3,000 contestants will gather at the arena and equestrian center as the world’s best ropers compete for a share of the prize pool. Guests will watch in awe as some of the best teams from across the country battle for the title. This event is free and open to the public.

Tickets for Holiday Hoops College Basketball on Dec. 18 to 23 start at $15 per person. This event features Division-I and Division-II men’s and women’s college basketball teams, from Akron University to Tarleton State.

D3 Hoops Classic will take place Dec. 26 to 30 and will feature Division III women’s and men’s teams. Tickets start at $10 per person.

The 25th annual Las Vegas Vintage Motorcycle Auction, presented by Mecum Auctions, will rev things up Jan. 7 to 9. More than 700 classic motorcycles will be auctioned on the block, ranging from years 1898 to 2015.

December dining

Armchair quarterbacks will want to drink in the Monday Night Pigskin Viewing Parties during football season. Try to win exciting cash prizes while enjoying drink specials such as bottomless beer, buckets of five beers, $1 hot dogs, pizza for $3 and Italian subs for $4. Doors for the viewing parties will open at 4:30 p.m.

Throughout December, the Silverado Steak House will host a wine of the month special featuring bottles of Rodney Strong estate picks for $20 per bottle. For each bottle sold, $1 will benefit local students in the Epicurean Charitable Foundation.

Throughout National Finals Rodeo, Silverado Steak House will “cowboy up” by featuring an assortment of steak options such as filet mignon; bone-in rib-eye; New York strip; and roast prime rib.

The menu will also include favorites among the Western lifestyle crowd and an assortment of Italian classics from Don Vito’s with items ranging from appetizers, salads, soups, entrees and more.

During the National Finals Rodeo, the Silverado Steak House will open nightly from 4:30 to 11 p.m.

Zenshin Asian Restaurant is now a big part of South Point and it offers guests an exciting destination for contemporary cuisine by the highly talented Chef Terence Fong.

Zenshin offers a lunch menu with items starting at $5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests can enjoy $5 sushi rolls such as the Crunch Roll filled with shrimp tempura, crab, avocado with eel sauce; the Spicy Tuna Roll with spicy tuna and cucumber; or California Roll with crab, avocado and cucumber. Or you may order $9.95 entrees of Hawaiian-style seasoned tuna and seasoned tofu skin stuffed with sushi rice; the Shogun 8-ounce Wagyu burger and other Asian fare.

Daily happy hour as well as nightly “reverse” happy hours offer 50 percent discounts on select food items and you can also sip $6 martinis, $5 wines and $3 beers.

But cowboys are saddling up to the 8-Second Bull Ride roll at Zenshin with snow crab, avocado, tempura asparagus with seared wagyu, sesame miso and truffle essence.
