Andrew Weil, MD to lead annual Maui Medical Cannabis Symposium

1 min read

Integrative health pioneer, best-selling author and chief science officer for Maui Grown Therapies, Dr. Andrew Weil is the featured speaker for the third annual Maui Medical Cannabis Symposium at 7 p.m. Thursday in McCoy Studio Theater at Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului.

Appearing with Weil will be Michael Backes, researcher and author of "Cannabis Pharmacy," plus Maui Grown Therapies' Chief Medical Officer Greg Yim, MD. Backes will update attendees on the latest research findings about medical cannabis, THC and CBD. Yim will serve as the evening's host and will facilitate audience questions.

"It's always a pleasure to return to Maui for the Medical Cannabis Symposium," Weil said. "Botanical remedies can play an important role in an integrative healthcare program that emphasizes good nutrition, a healthful lifestyle, spirituality and mind-body interventions. When used properly, cannabis is a safe and effective plant remedy that is underutilized and, unfortunately, still misunderstood by many conventional practitioners."

As in past years, the final 30 minutes of the symposium will be reserved for written audience questions that will be curated by Yim.

Admission to the symposium is free, but confirmed reservations are required for entry. Reservations are available at www.mauisymposium.eventbrite.com.
