• Business workshops. The following County of Maui Mayor's Office of Economic Development workshops will be held at Maui County Business Resource Center, Maui Mall, Suite B-9. To reserve a seat, call 270-5770. Workshops are free unless otherwise noted.

** "The ABC's of a Business Plan" with David Daly will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Maui Economic Opportunity Business Development Center's Core Four Business Planning is a 36-hour course on how to write a business plan while providing the information you need to know in order to start, operate and grow your business. This workshop is a one-hour introductory workshop which will provide you with a better understanding of the course outline for the Core Four Business Planning.

** "Leveraging the World's Greatest Marketing Secret by Writing, Publishing and Promoting Your Book to Better Market Your Business" with Patrick Snow will be from noon to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Attend this workshop and learn how to make publishing and business goals come true. If you want to stand out from your competition, strengthen your credentials and get free publicity, then writing and publishing a book is your best marketing strategy.

• Coconut palm weaving/ ti-leaf lei workshop hosted by Halau Hula I Kona Mau Lima will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday. Learn how to make a fish and a rose using coconut palm fronds or try your hand at making a ti-leaf lei. Learn about the history of the coconut palm and the use of the ti-leaf lei and how they have played an important part in the Hawaiian culture. Students must be at least 13 years of age. All materials will be provided. Cost is $35. Space is limited. For information, call Judy Romero at 214-6649.
