Zenshin Daiko Taiko Festival offers amazing talent

Zenshin Daiko 20th annual Taiko Festival will present outstanding musicianship graced with energetic fun and full hearts at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 22 in Castle Theater at the MACC.

Having performed all around Maui and the Neighbor Islands, as well as in California, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas, Nevada and Japan, Zenshin Daiko has more than 50 concerts under its collective belt this year alone. Formed in 1999, the musical organization surpassed 1,000 concerts this past January.

Recognized as a leading builder of taiko drums made from used wine barrels, this nonprofit is dedicated to teaching children the beauty and discipline of taiko and has evolved from a small group to one that now receives national and international recognition.

Joining the group in this annual Maui concert are Cofounder Roy Hirabayashi, Artistic Director Emeritus PJ Hirabayashi and Eien Hunter-Ishikawa, esteemed musician, educator and composer.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for keiki 12 years of age and younger (plus applicable fees).
