Our goal was to build relationships and have family and community involvement. We would like to send a BIG MAHALO to the following people and businesses who generously donated to our Ohana Nights: Chef Tylun Pang, Fairmont Kea Lani; Tina Monden, Kula Country Farms; Karen, Elaine's Maui Cookies; Chiemi Ballesteros, Home Depot; Erlinda Rosario, MacDonald's; Ken Kenar, Pizza in Paradise; Costco; Davin Kinoshita, Safeway Kahului; Jim Mata Bishop and Oren Ben-Dayan, Fun Factory; Aaron Joyo; MHS HOSA Club; Glenda Joyo; MHS Student Government; PTSA; Lianne Oshiro, Title 1; and Pascual Catering. We would like to extend a big Mahalo to Dino for stopping to help a nurse change a flat tire Friday night on Omaopio Rd. It was dark and isolated and she was alone. Needless to say she was concerned for her safety. She called for the police and a tow truck after trying to change the tire. We stopped to help divert traffic away from her car and waited with her until help came, which came in the form of a young man named Dino. He tried everything he could to get that tire off, running back and fourth to his van, each time returning with a new tool, optimism and determination until that tire came off. We all cheered. We were impressed by his kindness and genuine concern for his fellowman. He leaves to go back to Alaska this week. Dino, thank you for being you.
