• Maui Ki-Aikido workshop takes place from 9:45 a.m. to noon today with Joni Jackson at Shunshinkan Dojo, 194 S. Market St., Wailuku. The class will center on the fundamental principles of Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido through interaction and basic movement. It will focus on how posture, awareness and calmness can aid us in our daily living. Wear comfortable clothing. Donation is $10. For information, call 283-9226.
• Fruit Fly Management class, presented by the University of Hawaii Maui Master Gardener program, will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at UH Maui College campus, Community Services Building (205), Kahului. Learn to identify and prevent fruit-fly damage, as well as areas different flies like best. Bring an empty one- and two-liter plastic bottle and take home both a lured and baited fruit fly trap! • Maui Ki-Aikido is restarting Aikido for children and teens for the 2019-2020 school year on Aug. 27 at the Hannibal Tavares Community Center's downstairs meeting room. Beginners are welcome. Ages 6 through elementary school practice from 6 to 7 p.m., and youth 12 and older practice from 7 to 8 p.m. The instructor is Joni Jackson, 6th dan with Hawaii Ki Federation. • Informational Breakfast Before Hours presentation, hosted by the Maui Chamber of Commerce and the Maui Visitors Bureau, will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Aug. 28 at the J. Walter Cameron Center, 95 Mahalani St., Unit 22A, Wailuku. Come learn what the Maui Visitors Bureau is doing to address community concerns regarding the size and impact of Maui's visitor industry. • Akaku Maui Community Media and AARP Hawaii present "Phone Smarts for the 50+ at Akaku" on Aug. 29. Workshops will be from 10 a.m. to noon for for iPhone users and 1 to 3 p.m. for Android users at 333 Dairy Rd., Suite 205 (upstairs) in Kahului. This training is intended for people 50 years of age and older who need basic information on how to use their device. Cost is $5. Bring your smart phone. There is an elevator available.
