The Maui Humane Society joins more than 900 shelters across the U.S. holding adoption events today in recognition of the national "Clear the Shelters" campaign. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., all adoption fees at MHS will be waived, courtesy of a generous donation from the Will Willett Trust.
"The 'Clear the Shelters' adoption event is a great way to raise awareness about the many dogs, cats and critters that are in need of permanent homes," said Jamie Fitzpatrick, COO, Maui Humane Society. "We are thrilled to be part of this nationwide event in order to find forever homes for all of the animals in our care."
Created to address overcrowding and raise awareness about the benefits of adopting from local animal shelters, "Clear the Shelters" events nationwide resulted last year in more than 80,000 pets finding their forever families. Since the campaign's inception in 2015, a whopping 250,000-plus shelter animals have been adopted.
