Music legend Kris Kristofferson will perform a benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 in Castle Theater at Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului.
Beneficiaries of the concert will be the MACC and Na Keiki O Emalia (Emalia's Children), a Maui-based nonprofit providing support to grieving children, teens and their families after the death of a loved one.
Joining Kristofferson for this appearance are The Strangers who are best known as the back-up band for singer-songwriter Merle Haggard.
Kris Kristofferson, a Rhodes Scholar, actor, songwriter and undisputed country music living legend, is a three-time Grammy Award-winner who has recorded 29 albums, including three with pals Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings as part of the Highwaymen.
Kristofferson also penned some of the greatest songs of all time, including "Me and Bobby McGee," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Sunday Morning Coming Down" and "For the Good Times." Artists who have recorded and achieved chart success with songs written or co-written by Kristofferson include Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Janis Joplin. By 1987, it was estimated that more than 450 artists had recorded Kristofferson's compositions.
Tickets are $15, $35, $55, $85 and $125 (MACC members receive a 10 percent discount), with a limited number available of $500 VIP tickets (plus applicable fees). VIP tickets include a meet-and-greet session, premium seats in the first four rows and a souvenir show laminate.
