1919 -- The "Three Musketeers," as the revenue agents in Honolulu facetiously dubbed the three Makawao wine makers arrested recently for selling liquor, were each fined $100 and costs.

1944 -- A group of five enlisted men and one officer has saved the government approximately $19,000 through its work on Maui. The men of the Army Quartermaster Corps tailor shop have averaged more than $1,000 a week in savings by repairing damaged clothing and other cloth articles.

1969 -- The Maui County Council, Boy Scouts of America, is observing its golden anniversary on February 6, 1970. A 50th anniversary luau is scheduled for that night at Aloha Restaurant in Kahului.
