1920 — The influenza epidemic has not spread in alarming degree in any of the districts outside of Wailuku, but aside from the “flu,” Wailuku district is now having a little epidemic of chickenpox and measles.

1945 — Plans have been completed for the construction of a 14-room hotel with private baths, to be constructed at Kepaniwai in Iao Valley, it was announced Friday by John G. Duarte, owner. It will be built after the war.

2010 — As residents and companies look to curb their spending and run more efficiently, Maui Economic Opportunity has scrapped its plans to hold a fundraiser dinner for its new transportation center and now is going virtual and holding a Fantasy Fundraiser instead.
