Two overnight camps to be offered
Paipala Bible Church and Doris Todd Christian Academy are sponsoring two tent camps for students in July. Both sessions cost $90.
The first session will run from June 30 to July 3 for those who have completed 1st through 5th grades.
The second session will be from July 4 to 7. It is for older children who have completed grades 6 through 10.
Both camps are overnight and will be held on the Doris Todd campus at 519 Baldwin Ave. in Paia.
The cost includes a camp T-shirt, transportation, crafts, food and snacks. Other activities include Bible study, group Bible lessons, sports activities, hikes and swimming.

Churches announce Bible schools
The Pukalani and Kahului Baptist churches will offer vacation Bible school programs in June and July, both with the theme of “Colossal Coaster World,” according to announcements.
Pukalani Baptist’s program will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday to June 28. The program features free dinner, followed by games, Bible study and music.
There are separate programs for children from preschool through 5th grade and for children in 6th grade through high school.
The Pukalani church is at the corner of Old Haleakala Highway and Loha Street.

Kahului Baptist’s program also is free and will be held from 8 a.m. to noon July 1 to 5. Events include worship rally, Bible study, recreation, crafts, missions, music and snacks.
Family Night will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 5 with children singing songs.

Church launching outreach program
Unity Church of Maui is kicking off a new community outreach program beginning June 29.
Church volunteers will do community service projects, such as a Sugar Beach cleanup, Kula Hospital serenading and Maui Nui Botanical Gardens maintenance.

Daily sports camp begins Monday
Waipuna Chapel will offer a daily sports camp this month for keiki 6 to 12 years old that will include Bible study.
The camp costs $30 per child and will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday to June 28 at Kula Park, behind the Kula Fire Station. Children will receive camp T-shirts.
Each day features sports including flag football or soccer, hula, snacks, Bible time, music and other fun.

Children to perform at Sunday service
The sounds of children singing and acting will fill the sanctuary of Iao United Church of Christ on Sunday during a performance of “What’s Up, Zak? A Musical Encounter with Jesus” by Kim Ingram and Joe Milton.
The performance will be held during the 9:30 a.m. worship service.
The presentation is the culmination of two weeks of learning, singing and acting in Joyful Noise 2013. The program is sponsored by Wailuku Union Church and Iao United Church of Christ.
“We started this joint project about 20 years ago,” said Pastor Jack Belsom. “Pastor Robb Kojima and I thought this would be a different approach to learning stories from the Bible.”
“My daughters still remember the songs from that first performance 20 years ago,” Kojima said. “We also have the children perform at Hale Makua as a form of ministry. It’s a ministry of children to the community and the congregation.”
Belsom said the community is invited to take part in the children’s ministry.
“We are looking forward to tell the stories of the healing of Bartimaeus and of Jesus’ encounter with Zacchaeus (found in Luke 18 and 19) in ways that will make you laugh, remember and be caught up in wonder,” he said.
Both churches will join in worship at Iao United Church of Christ, located at 2371 W. Vineyard St. in Wailuku.
